French 18th Century Forged Iron Folk Art Baroque Tavern Sign
Important and beautiful 18th century Tavern sign depicting a rearing white horse with a crowned coat of arms on its back.
Most likely from the Alsace, France due to the German influences in this piece.
If you travel through France you sometimes still find restaurants or hotels under the name "The Chevel Blanc " ( the white horse).
Very rare folk art piece from a bye gone era, especially when you think of the fact it is made out of iron and survived being outside for centuries.
It has a beautiful patine, traces of several layers of paint are still visible which makes it extra unique.
France circa 1750, weathered, small losses and small old repairs.
